A dignified place of recovery for all

A Place to Heal. A Path Forward.

The Carehouse is Care Beyond the Boulevard’s homeless medical respite facility and the only standalone facility of its kind in the Kansas City metro. It is a place of rest and recovery for unhoused patients who are discharged from local hospitals but still have ongoing medical needs. Without a safe place to recover, many of these individuals would be discharged back onto the street, often leading to worsening health conditions and repeated hospital visits.
At the Carehouse, patients are welcomed into private, non-congregate rooms that provide a dignified space to heal. Each patient receives consistent, personalized care, including weekly visits from licensed medical providers and access to services like wound care, physical therapy, psychology, and psychiatry.
Healing at the Carehouse goes beyond medical care. Our team works alongside each patient to build a path forward. On-site case managers provide housing-focused support, helping patients secure stable housing, access benefits, and obtain vital documents. This work creates real outcomes. Today, 50% of Carehouse patients do not return to the streets after discharge.
Now, we are ready to grow. We have purchased the builidng, and through this campaign we will renovate the Carehouse building and bring all 39 rooms online for patient use. In partnership with the City of Kansas City, this expansion will transform the Carehouse into the city’s first year-round, low-barrier shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness.
This is more than a building. It is a place where healing begins and where lasting change becomes possible.
