“I can’t begin to tell you how much of a blessing this place has been for my dad. Ms. Virginia and Alfredo were quick to assist us when he needed temporary housing. None of this would have been possible without Ms. Beth from Healthy Blue and her suggestion that I contact Care Beyond the Blvd. They provided medical care, food, and clothing and even sent us home with a care package for Dad’s new apartment. They have gone above and beyond for us, and the program is amazing! I’m sure it’ll be a blessing to many more. Thank you again! I cannot say it enough.”

“What a great service! Awesome to see medical care, the food mobile from Church of the Resurrection, and Kansas State veterinary care all available in one place. The need is real. The Care Beyond the Boulevard clinic is in the back (south) of the Independence Boulevard Christian Church.”

“I had taken my 9-month-pregnant, non-English-speaking Honduran mother and her six-year-old child to get the mother dental care last week. The wait was long, greater than three hours, but very revealing as to the care provided. A diverse population, from the homeless to acting-out schizophrenics to individuals well known to the clinic who were called by their names…everyone was treated “nice,” as my Honduran neighbor replied to me in Spanish via her phone translator.
I found the care of each respectful, compassionate, and individualized according to each person’s needs, from size 9 1/2 shoes to bottled water and snacks as each waited to be seen. A volunteer translated English to Spanish as my friend was examined by the dentist, was given meds to heal her two “badly infected” teeth, and instructions to return in one week to have those teeth extracted…and after delivery of her baby, to return to have her last two wisdom teeth extracted.
All the care was offered and given without any pressure for payment. Having been a nurse for 47 years and now retired, I was so thankful to witness the “care beyond the boulevard”…I realized that I had only known “care on the boulevard” during my years of service in health care.

“Care Beyond the Boulevard gave me somewhere safe to recover from surgery after my right shoulder was replaced, and I was able to have my dog with me to comfort me during my recovery. I honestly feel that I owe my life to the people who work there.”

“These angels disguised as volunteers perform free medical services for anyone who comes in, without an appointment. They are understanding and patient. Some over-the-counter meds are available, but they can work with you to wade through the government programs to get you a prescription.”
